Alberta invites 294 Express Entry candidates to apply for provincial nomination in August 28th draw

Express Entry candidates were the focus of the latest draw held by the Canadian province of Alberta on August 28 in which it issued a total of 294 invitations to candidates with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores as low as 400.
The total invitations issued in August 28 invitation round more than doubled the 121 issued in the previous draw that took place on August 15.
With this draw, Alberta has now issued a total of 5,236 invitations to apply for provincial nomination to Express Entry candidates over the course of 23 draws so far this year.
Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program’s (AINP) Express Entry Stream allows the province to search the federal Express Entry system for candidates who meet the stream’s eligibility requirements and invites them to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence.
In order to be considered for a nomination through AINP’s Express Entry Stream, as well as many other Express Entry-aligned Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), the first step is to create a profile in Federal Express Entry System.
No job offer or previous work experience in Alberta is mandatory to be eligible for the Alberta Express Entry Stream. However, applicants must be working in an occupation that supports Alberta’s economic development and diversification priorities.
The AINP generally gives priority to candidates who:
  • have a job offer and/or work experience in the province;
  • hold a degree from a Canadian post-secondary institution and a valid job offer; or
  • have a parent, child or sibling already living in the province.
Express Entry candidates who receive an invitation from Alberta can apply for a provincial nomination and those who approved for a nomination, receive additional 600 points towards their CRS scores, which effectively increase their chances to get an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence in subsequent Express Entry draw.
Alberta’s ExpressEntry Stream draws often invites candidates with CRS scores that are much lower than those drawn through Federal Express Entry draws.
